New Beginnings

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

I haven’t placed a newer blog just because there wasn’t anything interesting to say. Or maybe stuff that I don’t wanna say.

Well, today I got two firsts.

I got my first high end guitar, a Fender John 5 Telecaster. I’ve always wanted a tele, but I am particular on its specs. Until I saw this when it first came out, I had to have it. Sure, there is still a few minor detail that I’d want from this model (individual tone controls for both pickups, a Floyd-ed version, and a coil splitter), but it already caught my attention. Probably a setup would be nice too, it feels a little stiff considering it came in .10s (high five to Fender for that, I love .10s).

For those who don’t know me, I don’t own an acoustic guitar. Why? They’re a lot more delicate, and I’ve never liked how it sounded when I play it. You have to buy like a hardshell case for it (seriously), a humidifier (you think I’m kidding???) and those plastic things to pull out the pins (I hate replacing strings on acoustic guitars). Like I said in a previous blog, if I’ll buy an acoustic, that’ll be a Taylor, and it’ll be the 12-string.

Since the John 5 is over 499.99, I get a FREE Fender DG7 (courtesy of Sam Ash) with FREE SHIPPING! It may not be the higher end type, it came with crappy strings (Mark made fun of me for that cuz it sounded horrible LOL), and it may have cramped my hand because of the higher action, but I feel something special about it when I played it. Maybe it’ll change my mind about my perception of acoustic guitars.

The John 5 will be a part of my backline, whether for The Velvet Ash or Hera. As for the acoustic, that remains to be seen.

I am gonna buy the John 5 album Songs for Sanity, or check out his album with Loser.
